My story
Thirty years ago, aged 24, a single decision changed my life - to sell everything I owned and head off to the Kalahari Desert with my Leica stills camera and photograph the story of Africa’s oldest hunter-gatherers.
It ended up being a hair-raising adventure.
But rather unexpectedly, I not only got my photographs published but it also led to my break as a documentary filmmaker.
The images proved I could not only work effectively with the lens but also tell visual stories. So I landed my first filming job.
What followed was a 30-year-long career, making documentaries for for many of the world’s most famous brands from National Geographic to Discovery, Travel Channel, Red Bull, Amazon Prime and the BBC.
Why ‘Lens Explorers?
Then it hit me - because I myself learned everything the hard way with no courses and no mentors, could I find a way to share everything I’ve learned with fellow travel-lovers?
People who, like myself, are passionate about travel and passionate about filming and photography .
Well, the answer is - yes.
After far too many late nights and strong coffees, I’ve condensed everything I know into the Lens Explorer teaching method.
It comes from real life experiences. Not classroom theory.
It’s for people who simply want to make films right now, not dream about making them some time in the future.
And to prove my commitment, I’ve decided to offer 1-on-1 mentorships as part of my promise to get results for every single person who signs up.
And when I say ‘mentorships’ it means that I will personally put my heart and soul into helping you achieve your goals.
So, if you are an aspiring filmmaker or a travel-lover see to get creative and capture your stories in pictures - then you are in the right place.
I’ve told my stories.
Now it’s your turn to tell yours.
Oh, and that little nugget of information I brought home from the Kalahari desert 30 years ago?
Simple.
The moment you raise a camera to the eye - you become a story teller!
Perhaps it’s time to unleash your own potential?
If so, please feel free to get in touch.
