A 10 Day Visual Journey

Epic Andes: Mountains, Myths & Folklore

Travel to the heart of the Peruvian Andes and explore the magnificent scenery, Inca archaeology and vibrant living folkore

Explore. And Enjoy exploring.

  • Upon arrival at Alejandro Velasco Astete International Airport (CUZ) in Cusco, a private transfer will bring you to your boutique hotel (about 20–30 minutes). Most international flights connect via Lima, with Cusco sitting at 3,399 m (11,152 ft) above sea level. Take it easy on arrival — unwind, acclimatize, and gently explore Cusco’s cobbled streets. As evening falls, enjoy your first glimpse of the Inca city under the soft glow of twilight, setting the stage for your highland adventure.

  • For those wishing to extend their stay, extra days in Cusco or the Sacred Valley can be arranged — simply let us know, and we’ll take care of the details.

    Optional extensions include:
    • A 2-day Lake Titicaca experience, with visits to local communities and floating islands.
    • A Titicaca + Tiwanaku and La Paz itinerary in Bolivia (available on request).
    • A rainforest adventure in the Amazon, starting from 2 days.

Whatever your choice, we’ll ensure your extension blends seamlessly with your Lens Explorers journey.

  • July and August are the ideal months to explore Cusco, the Sacred Valley, and the high Andes. Expect bright, sunny days with crisp mountain air (18–20°C / 64–68°F in the valleys) and cooler temperatures at higher altitudes (5–12°C / 41–54°F). Evenings are clear and cold, especially above 3,500 m, perfect for fireside reflection or stargazing. This dry, stable season makes mid-winter a magical time to experience Peru’s peaks, valleys, and ancient ruins.

  • Our journeys are designed for a wide range of fitness levels.
Trekking in the Andes can be adapted to your pace — whether on gentle valley walks or more challenging highland trails like Rainbow Mountain or Ausangate. If you have health concerns, limited mobility, or worry about altitude, please let us know in advance. Strenuous activities can always be replaced with easier alternatives — the goal is to savor the journey, not endure it.

  • Cusco sits at 3,399 m (11,152 ft), so your first days are designed for gentle adjustment. To help your body adapt:

    • Hydrate well — drink plenty of water throughout the day.
    • Move slowly — avoid strenuous activity on arrival.
    • Dress in layers — temperatures vary between sunny days and cool evenings.
    • Sun protection — bring sunscreen and UV-protective sunglasses.
    • Altitude medication — consult your doctor in advance if needed.
    • Listen to your body — short walks, light meals, and rest are key.

This approach ensures a safe, comfortable, and enjoyable start to your highland adventure.
