🌤️ Clothing
Light layers (cotton or linen shirts, T-shirts, breathable trousers) – for coastal and daytime warmth
Warm layers (fleece, jumper, or light down jacket) – essential for cool evenings and mountain air
Windbreaker or light waterproof jacket – for coastal winds or unexpected rain
Scarf or shawl – doubles as sun protection and warmth in the desert evening
Comfortable walking shoes – for exploring medinas and towns
Desert Boots are great but not necessary - sturdy trainers will do – just remember that terrain can be rocky and arid, not just soft sand. Goretex or breathable fabrics are not necessary and can over heat the shoes.
Sandals or slip-ons – for relaxing or the coast
Hat and sunglasses – strong sun even in early spring
Socks and undergarments – quick-dry fabrics recommended
🏕️ For the Desert Camp
Warm sleeping clothes – desert nights can drop below 10°C (50°F)
Thermal top or leggings (optional but great for comfort)
Headlamp or flashlight – camps can be dimly lit
Power bank – limited access to electricity
Reusable water bottle – to stay hydrated
Biodegradable wipes – for quick freshening up
Small daypack – to carry essentials during excursions
🧴 Toiletries & Health
Sunscreen (SPF 30+) and lip balm with SPF
Moisturizer – dry desert air can dehydrate skin
Hand sanitizer
Basic first-aid kit – plasters, painkillers, rehydration salts, antiseptic cream
Prescription medication (in original packaging)
Insect repellent – occasionally useful near oases
📸 Other Essentials
Extra cables / USB for recharging phone & camera batteries – easy to leave one behind in a hotel!
Travel adapter (Type C or E plug)
Travel insurance documents & passport copies
Cash in small denominations – many smaller towns and souks are cash-based. Note that ATM at Merzouga doesn’t always work.
Notebook or journal – for memories or travel notes

February and March are the ideal months to journey from Morocco’s sunlit coast to its golden desert heart.
The weather during this period offers the perfect balance for travel—mild and pleasant by the ocean, cool and crisp in the mountains, and comfortably warm in the desert.
Along the coast, places like Essaouira and Agadir enjoy daytime temperatures of 18–22°C (64–72°F), with refreshing sea breezes and plenty of sunshine.
In the Atlas Mountains, expect cooler air, with daytime highs around 10–15°C (50–59°F) and chilly nights that can dip close to freezing.
As you descend toward the Sahara, the days grow warmer and luminous, averaging 22–28°C (72–82°F), while evenings remain cool and clear—perfect for campfires under a starlit sky.
This gentle seasonal rhythm makes February and March a magical time to experience Morocco’s stunning contrasts, from coast to peaks to dunes.
